homework is haaaaaard!!!

loafers make the best mahmmies

It's hard to get your career homework done when your cats would rather you remain unemployed, and sit around all day petting them. Today my cats are being especially attentive, and I no sooner pry Minion off my finger, than Haley moves in for a schnoogle (sitting on your chest and licking your ear.)

No use telling them that a one income household won't pay their vet bills, because they aren't very interested in vet bills. I try telling them that we won't be able to afford Snappy Toms treats, but they just think Fernando and I will forego essential foods in that case. Whatever it takes to ensure that The Mahmmy stays home like a good full-time kitty mahmmy.

good teevees

In WWII London's National Gallery collection was removed to a slate quarry in Manod, Wales for safe keeping. (There was talk of taking the collection to Canada, but Churchill refused to let them leave the island. My first thought was: Imagine if that ship sank!!) Once a month they would bring a picture out to display, to keep up morale.

Inspired by this story, children's author Frank Cottrell Boyce wrote a book about this happening a second time--the National Gallery needing to be emptied (because of flooding) and the paintings removed to Manod, but this time the effects of the paintings on the inhabitants of the town.

They made it into a BBC TV movie, which I taped off Masterpiece Classic but only just watched today. It was so good--a keeper. A mix if two genres I like: (a) quirky inhabitants of small town; (b) value of art for everyone, including non-art-scholars.

A jolly way to start my day right. But now I have to go do careerz homeworks.  >:-(

HOW to MAKE MONEY ON!!!LINE!!!! YES YOU TOO can DO iT You CAN!!!!

All the "get rich on the internet" schemes are based on this concept: how to rank high in Google (so that you get more hits on your site, and then more affiliate revenue). Except I had to wade through all kinds of junky blogs and web sites where everyone speaks an "insider" language, to understand what the hoo they were talking about; you can just read it in a nice simplified NY Times article. ;-)

And here's a blogger who's getting out of the linking business. Harder to understand cause he's all lingo-ized.

Latest mabeltalk posts, so you can catch what interests you :-)

Where would I be without you?
