Oh man, Masterpiece Mystery is going to be so good this fall!

Inspector Lewis!!

Wallander! (The original Swedish detective series, before Steig's.)

And a modern day Sherlock Holmes!

Nallabalou! Return to Meowee East

I don't use this camera a lot, so I don't remember how to shoot multiple shots--which best capture animals. But I remembered I could shoot a video, so here's the first Nalou video!

Nalou and her brothers were found as babies, tucked into some warm hay-garbage where the rescue people work (at their day job, but they're always on the lookout for strays.) They waited for the mommy to come back, and tried to trap her (so they could spay her, as well as have her care for the kittens) but she was gone.

So then they had to hand-care for the babies, which meant bottle feeding every three hours... including all night. And then bringing them to work with them (they work with animals, so I guess that was ok!)

They thought Nalou would be the first to be adopted because she was so cute and active, but I guess people were drawn to the calmer brothers. So Nalou remained at the farmhouse, along with many other rescues--lizards, tropical birds (we could hear the African Gray chatting in the background), a couple dogs, and later another kitten.

We met the other kitten first. She was still small, with soft fluffy hair, and still nervous about the sounds and people around her. But I got to pet her and play "under the blanket" a little. SO CUTE. Wanted to take them all!

Then we met Nalou who, because she was reared by humans, was very sociable. As strangers we could pick her up right away, give her a scratch, play. Fernando got out his laser pointer and off she went! Apparently she plays so hard that she starts panting hard after awhile and you have to make her stop. They said she's in her terrible 2s, always up to trouble, which I love. I'm used to living with a little trouble-maker, and now I've got two! Heh heh hehhhh.

They advised us to leave her in one room, so she can get used to us first, before introducing her to Haley's Territory. Fernando went to see her before bed, and I went just now to sit with her a bit. She started purring like a truck engine as soon as I walked in. She's used to being around people! "Where are the people in this new place? Where's my nice farm house!! Where's my dog--oh well, I don't really care about the dogs. ...I did like the birds, though."

Oh, she's also still at a sucky stage, so she's another ear-sucker like Haley! I told Fernando he's going to have one cat hanging off each ear.

I put Haley in my room, and then we brought in Nalou and snuck her into the small room at the back. When Haley emerged she smelled something was off, but was more interested in her supper. Sherry would have taken one whiff and flipped out.

Then H and I were in the kitchen when these little squeeky mews started up. She ran to the back room and sniffed around the door frame. She occasionally checks it out when she hears a noise. She's confused because she can hear and smell a cat, but not see her, so she seems unsure of whether her territory's been invaded.
