My Day - a sleepy but useful one

IN ERRAND NEWS
I woke up early this morning (8 AM!) cause I had a lot on my mind, lots of stuff going on. Got some stuff off my mind, and then Fernando and I headed out to my optometrist appointment. I'm still myopic, but I also have a slight astigmatism which presumably affects me at all times, so in theory I should always wear my glasses. But I warned him that's not likely to happen because they're a headache trigger as I'd explained to him earlier.

I asked what I should look for re finding the right glasses (aside from my own taste--I wanted to get the same style as last time). He's the first optom who told me there are blood vessels by the ears and if the glasses press on them, it can cause headaches. So to look for really wide glasses.

Well! So Fernando helped me search through all the "buy 2 for 1" pairs, and I found two pairs that seemed pretty wide and also light. They weren't what I would have normally picked, but they still suit me. (One pair is peach coloured!) They're off to the lab and I'll model them for you next week.

IN KITTY NEWS
Minion is perfectly on the mend, and back to her troublemaking ways. Glad that operation is over with. Just leaves GP and headache clinic.

IN NANO NEWS
Have you looked at the little calendar on the right? It's insanity! And I'm not even going to write now cause I am slee-pee. Going to take a 11 PM nap or something. Latah!

hair

I think I'm going to keep bleaching my bangs, with a bit of root showing. And I may continue to bleach the ends of my hair, once the blondiness is closer to grown out. So far I'm liking the way the half blond looks, and it would be much easier to upkeep than full blonde.

The bangs are almost all brown, and being on the forehead they get greasiest the fastest. (You may recall I continued bleaching my hair because it would get greasy less fast.) So I get the dreaded stringiness too fast.

In other news, I'm off to the optometrist tonight. Gonna go early and look at frames. Yay I can watch movies with subtitles again, except on bad headache days!

50 Questions - What's the sickest you've ever been?

About 10 years ago I got something that took me out for about 10 days (I missed a whole week of work, and then the weekends around it were a writeoff as well.) I never went to the doctor because (a) I'm often too lazy, and (b) most of the time you turn out to have a virus and they can't help you anyway, after sitting in the office for hours.

So I don't know what I had, except that a lot of other people at work turned out to have a combination of pneumonia and bronchitis, and that's what my symptoms were like.

I was so weak I could barely make it to the bathroom and back. I had so much congestion in my lungs that at one point I was trying to clear my throat, and it wouldn't clear and I thought I was on the verge of suffocating (I remember clearly, I was standing in front of the fridge.) I was mildly hallucinating--I had this feeling like my body parts had personalities (my noes and my feet.) I cycled through every kind of sick effect--at one point nauseous, then so stuffed up I filled a large garbage bag with kleenex and I had to sleep sitting up, then a throat so sore I couldn't sleep because of the explosion effect, etc.

I have rarely been so miserable in my life. I understood how people can die of having a flu.

The only other time I can remember being physically miserable (I have few childhood memories) was the first day-night after my jaw operation. I was so chronically uncomfortable and nauseous that I couldn't concentrate on anything, which meant I was BOOOORED. Oh my God. Being bored is one of the worst things that can happen to me. I have a great imagination so in most cases I can at least while away the time by floating in a daydream; but if I'm very upset by something, or in pain, I can't do it.

Alright--time for your Tales of Woe please.

Now this is worth bothering to anticipate!

To help wash the taste of Bob Dylan's Christmas album from our musical mouths... Annie Lennox is finally putting one out!! The couple Christmas songs she's done were great, and she totally has the voice and Ethereal 'Tude for this kind of music. Fingers crossed!!
