Fiddler On the Roof Gets Served

The Arizona Shooting and Christina's funeral: angels, human chains, and thank God -- emergency legislation

Oh my days, as Shakespeare once said--if this were played upon a stage I could condemn it as an improbable fiction. Or in this case, if someone wrote a movie like this it would have been condemned as sentimental tripe. Because it's rare to see such a stark juxtaposition of Good and Evil. (I don't use the word "evil" to dehumanize the bad guys in this story. They're all too human.)

Evil: Crazy guy shoots people at Safeway...
Good: Including a 9 year old girl, born on 9-11, who went to see a politician cause she was interested in politics!
Evil: Totally fucked up church decides to picket little girl's funeral, because they're just total assholes.
Good: A group met in order to make a human chain to block the church. (I don't know how many would have come, but when a Winnipeg group did the same thing they had 400-700 people, and Westboro didn't show.)
Good: Twenty people wear 8X10 foot angel's wings to the funeral with the intention of blocking the picket signs.
Good: The Arizona governor signs in emergency legislation to make it illegal for the funeral to be picketed; and Tuscon police and airport authority monitored to see whether Westboro members who had bought tickets would show up.

They didn't.
