"One of Shaw's! One of Shaw's!"

plays more plays!

It's time to start planning Stratfordganza II! You can't plan too early, because the fall shows don't start until summertime, mostly.

And we we'll need a new, permanent name, because Gilby and I won't always go to Stratford for our mutual birthday celebration.

The Gilbymabelthan?

Le Festival international de Gilby et Mabel?

Monsieur Gilby pointed out that Stratford is a reasonable drive from Toronto, so we can still go there for a day, without the added expense of a hotel. (No, my husband does not mind me staying overnight at Maison Chez Gilb. Or in hotel rooms for that matter.)

I've learned that my favourite Wilde play, An Ideal Husband, is playing at the Shaw Festival, and it's a 90 minute drive from Toronto. Wee! But we need to find a second show, either at that festival, or in Toronto.

the play is the thing

Today we went to see the Stratford production of George Bernard Shaw's Caesar & Cleopatra, with Christopher Plummer, shown in the movie thee-ay-tah. It was so good. Once in awhile you plunge back into the work of a great writer, and--zing! It's so nice to zinged once in awhile. I haven't even read a lot of Shaw (he wrote a ZILLION plays) (about 50) but enjoyed each one.

Where would I be without you?
