In Québec

I can never really enter into Making Fun of Céline Dion, because she reminds me too much of my beloved French-Canadian step-mother. The way she acts and talks is so Québecoise, and therefore to me seems very authentic, and reminds me of my step-family. This video, of Céline's family at the Québec 400 year anniversary, is not very different from many of the family get-togethers I went to in my teen years. (Swiss Girl can attest to that, she was at one of them, albeit in crutches.)

Home sweet home

They called me at 6 PM to say that Minion was quiet for awhile, but was acting up again and would be better off at home. I was happy to leap! on the bus and go get my baby. They had her in one of the rooms by herself, because she was rubbing her face raw on the cage--she has two raw marks on her face.

While the tech was trying to give me instructions she was squirming-worming in the tech's arms, so the tech put her down next to the bird cage. Oh my days. "BEST. CAT. TOY. EVAH!" That kept her quiet.

She hadn't eaten since midnight last night, and I had to give her only a small portion in case she was nauseous. Well. She was NOT impressed. Started chewing on her plastic carrier. She's locked up in my bedroom now.

Man it's gonna be hard keeping her from doing anything crazy to her suture (actually the sutures are inside, there's glue holding her skin together on the outside!) You would not guess she just had surgery--bouncing around the room. Except when she tries to jump on the bed, she missed both times, so I put a box in there as a stepstool.

Happy to have my insane kitty home. :-)

Clean ALL the teeth!

Look at them beauties.
Chomp chomp chomp!

The bouncy ball awaketh!

Yay! The vet called and the bébé is all good, waking up from the anesthetic. But before the surgery she was rubbing her face like mad on the kennel, to get out, so they put her back in the plastic carrier. And the vet is afraid she may continue this way once she's revived, cause she's SO energetic. The vet doesn't want to just drug her all night, and she doesn't want me to come tomorrow to find a cat with no facial hair left, so instead they may send her home early, provided we can keep her confined to one room.

I'm glad she's all well. Wonder how long it will take before she bounces off the walls again.

Sleep in ALL the spots!!!

Had to take the kittenatude to the vet. I accidentally went too early--thought they said dropoff between 8 and 9, but it was 9-10. So we sat out on the pavement for about 10 minutes. She was shivering! I don't think she was cold, but that street is really noisy at 9 AM, and there's construction. I put my scarf over the cage and babytalked her the whole time. Poor little furball.

The earliest she'll be operated is 11 AM, and then they'll call me to say if it went fine. They'll keep her overnight because it's a more invasive operation than neutering, so they want to keep an eye on the stitches, and keep her from running around.

I was planning to go back to bed til my dentist appt, but I'm not sleepy at the moment. And Haley is enjoying some One and Only Remaining Cat time, alternating between my George Bernard Shaw bag and my lap. I suspect I will see her trying out alll her favourite sleeping spots over the next 24 hours, now that there's no one here to kick her out of them.

Here was Minion last night, getting in her last suck-ahjs.

And here is One and Only Remaining Cat this morning.

4524 done, 45 476 to go

Didn't write as much today as I could have, but it was still enough to be able to finish on time, at least according to the Nano Stats. Apparently I need to do 2166 per day at this point (the normal goal per day, if you're writing each day, is 1666) and today I did 2500. Now I'm off to bed, cause I have to take the Minion to the v-word at 8 AM.

Christmas starts out with a meh

It's Christmas music time, now. I thought Susan Boyle's album might be good, since I do enjoy traditional Christmas music. But it sounds like a funeral dirge. And she's included a cover of "Hallelujah" which, yes, is a spiritual song, but also one about sex and pain and so forth. Not really what I associate with Christmas music, and sung in the same dirge-style.
