the boys in the band

Rewatching Baz's Romeo and Juliet. As cute as Leo and Claire were in the meeting scene (and I still love Des'ree's "Kissing You") my real enjoyment of this film, when it came out in 1996, was all the shirtless co-stars.

Benvolio!

TYBALT!

Do I ever tell you how obsessed I was when this movie came out? I was about 17. I watched it three times in the theatre and I think two of those times were within a few days of each other. I must rewatch also!
Tybalt is such the perfect villain. "Peace? I hate the word, as I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee." BANG BANG. I love it!!
Also, Claire Danes played Juliet, and since she had just starred in My So-Called Life, in which she played a character who was basically me at that age, I imagined that in this movie I was kissing Leonardo DiCaprio, which, since I loved him, was heaven. Heaven!

Hee hee! I think it cost me about $5 at Future Shop. I can't remember if I saw it more than once in the theatre... I might have seen it twice, with different friends. I was in English Lit at the time, so it was a fun movie for us.
