I've now had this cold since October 26th. Not much, but a bit of nose blowing, and the sore throat still comes and goes. So I've decided it must have been an infection, rather than a simple head cold. When Fernando went to the doctor, with what seemed to be the same affliction, he was given antibiotics. That would also explain why I felt so physically drained.
I still haven't started Nanowrimoing. I've got to read a page or two of Rennison and Wodehouse, to get inspired about first person and diary writing. It's not something I normally do!
After watching that Cactus movie, I then watched Revenge of the Nerds, and then Blue Streak. Nerds is always enjoyable, and Blue Streak was surprisingly good (about a robber pretending to be a cop).

better tv (well, internets)
Okay, watched Cactus Flower today--a nice change from Aurore. I'd never seen it before--the romance was only ok (Walter Mathau's character is not very likable) but it's really witty.
It's available to watch on youtube.

tv
I've somehow been sucked into watching Aurore, the more recent movie about a little girl in 1920s Quebec who was beaten to death by her father and step-mother. I am not at all in the right mood for watching depressing movies, but I got sucked in anyway. Most of the abuse happens offscreen, so maybe that's partly why I could stand it. And the woman playing the step-mother is frikking scary.
The Aurore case is super well known in Quebec--a sort of cultural phenomenon.
Ahhh! I take back what I wrote about the violence being offscreen. I had to mute the TV just now. Why am I watching this??

Kanye West... humility?! Now that's a headline!
Kanye West on George Bush Jr.:
"Well I definitely can understand the way he feels-- to be accused of being a racist in any way. Because the same thing happened to me, you know, where I got accused of being racist. And with both situations, it was basically a lack of compassion that America saw in that situation. With him it was a lack of compassion, with him not rushing-- you know, him taking the time time to rush down to New Orleans. With me, it was a lack of compassion of cutting someone off in their moment. But nonetheless I think we're all quick to pull the race card in America. And now, I'm more open. And the poetic justice that I feel, to have went through the same thing that he went, and now I really more connect with him on a humanitarian level… because the next morning, when he felt that, I felt the same thing."

yawn yawn slog tiiiired
No nanoing yet. I've still got this cold and it's making me tired all the time, so I've been napping or going to bed early. I've been so energy-less all week, I feel like I'm walking through mud all the time. slog slog slog. Left work a couple hours early just so I could come home and crash.
Off to bed soon. My weekend is Thu-Fri so I should get some writing done then.
