I'm pleased to discover that I can use the word "motherfucker" in my novel. It's my favourite swear word, probably because my swearing vocabulary was formed at the same time as my love for Prince, and it's one of his faves.

From "The Complete Motherfucker?!" Now there's a book!
And it's more interesting than you would think! The word came out of African American circles, so he talks a lot about the troubles of black men growing up in the Jim Crow era etc.
